Presentation of the latest developments of the BiqBin project at the 23rd ISMP in Bordeaux.

At the 23rd International Symposium on Mathematical Programming, a PhD student working on the project, Nicolo Gusmeroli, gave a talk in which he presented the latest developments in the exact penalty method over discrete sets and showed some preliminary results for the max-k-cluster and the edge expansion problems.

At European HPC summit week 2018 (EHPCSW18) organised by PRACE, EXDCI and University of Ljubljana, we have presented our BiqBin project with a poster at poster session. This was the only project of this type and have raised awareness that mathematical optimization deals with problems which are natural candidates for using high performance computers.

Meeting of December

20. 12. 2017, Nicolo Gusmeroli

On Friday, the 8th of December, a meeting for the BiqBin project between the Austrian and the Slovenian groups took place. At the meeting the partners updated each other and the tasks for the next meeting have been appointed.

During the 5th Alpen-Adria-Workshop on Optimization, held at the University of Klagenfurt, the members of the project were able to meet and discuss the latest developments. The Slovenian Ph.d. student Timotej Hrga stayed in Klagenfurt for one week and discussed a lot with the Austrian members about the current issues. The main meeting took place on the 8th of December, when also Janez Povh joined. On this occasion we updated on the work of the last months and made plans for the next months. The agenda was updated in this fruitful meeting that finished with pizzas for everybody.
